Introduction:
The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 is a point-and-click adventure game that parodies all things fantasy. It is a very simple, straightforward game. You will get most of the achievements by just playing through the story, but there are a handful of missable achievements that you need to keep an eye out for. The game uses an auto save feature, and it uses it often. There is no separate save file, and if you manually save it will be overwritten by the last auto save. Be careful not to miss an achievement. If you do, immediately pause the game and reload your latest save. None of the achievements are difficult to get, as long as you pay attention to when the missable ones are available.

Note: There is currently a save glitch in which the save icon will appear in the bottom left and will not go away. If this occurs, you should quit the game and restart it. Achievements will still unlock, but it won’t save correctly. You will simply load to the last auto save before the glitch occurred. Many players have reported having hours of gameplay lost to this glitch.

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
Simply play through the game to get the majority of the achievements. The following achievements are missable and separated by the chapter you can get them in. Refer to their individual achievement descriptions for details on how to get them.

Chapter 1:
"Fisher Queen"
"Enlightened"
"File Muncher"
"Time Traveler"

Chapter 2:
"Drunken Master"
"Math Magician"

Chapter 3:
"Servant of the Gods"
"I am the law!"

Chapter 4:
"Pokerface"
"King of Games"
"Eyecatcher"

Chapter 5:
"Yes, master?"
"To the bitter end"

Conclusion:
Overall the game is an easy completion with only a minimal effort taken to avoid missable achievements. If you do miss one, you risk having to replay hours of content. This is a really fun and cute game with a great sense of humor, and I totally recommend it to fans of point-and-click games or newcomers to the genre.

Secret achievements

  • Receive the hat of the Master Fisher

Chapter 1: This is a missable achievement that must be unlocked before Ivo leaves the Elfburrow. While fishing for a red herring for the magic potion, you will notice your fishing skill raises by one point for each attempt. If you go ask for fishing lessons from Arbor, it will increase by ten points. Once you reach around 20 points you will fish up the Master Angler’s Hat and will unlock the achievement.

  • You know that Ivo is pregnant

Story related and cannot be missed.

Chapter 1: Unlocks when Ivo finds out what is making her sick.

  • Be enlightened five times

Chapter 1: This is a missable achievement that must be unlocked before Ivo leaves the Elfburrow. When speaking to Ivo’s father, one of the options is "Enlighten me". Simply click this option five times and listen to the responses for the achievement to unlock.

  • Read all student files

Chapter 1: This is a missable achievement that must be obtained before Wilbur leaves the magic school. In the staff room there is a file cabinet. Read each individual file for the achievement to unlock.

  • Solve the time travel side-quest

Chapter 1: This is a missable achievement that must be obtained before Wilbur leaves the magic school. Inside the library there will be a stack of rotten books. You will receive a short side-quest to fix them. You will receive a Paper Hat as a reward, and the achievement will unlock.

  • Hit all the symbols in the Drunken Punch minigame

Chapter 2: This is an easily missable achievement at the very beginning of the chapter. Nate will start a Drunken Punch minigame with the gnome bounty hunter. There will be four floating symbols that you will need to "punch" in order to unlock this achievement. Unfortunately the controls are quite terrible, and the symbols will try to flee your cursor. Your best bet is to mash the A button while you move the cursor in the general direction of the symbol. If you fail to hit the symbol after a few seconds, it will disappear. If this happens, IMMEDIATELY pause the game and reload your last save. This may take a few tries, which means you will have to skip through quite a bit of dialogue, but it shouldn’t prove too difficult.

  • Ask the right math problem at the first go

Chapter 2: This is an easily missable achievement that occurs when Wilbur is trying to record the voice of the Headmaster saying certain numbers. Wilbur will ask him about being a math champion, and then must come up with a math problem. You MUST choose the right conversation choices in the right order, the FIRST time. The correct order is 65+23-47. Each of these numbers is a separate conversation selection. The achievement will unlock when he responds with "41". If you make a mistake, IMMEDIATELY pause and reload your last save. This is not a difficult achievement as long as you know what to say beforehand.

  • You've escaped despite the surprising twist

Story related and cannot be missed.

Chapter 2: Unlocks after Wilbur attempts to save Alistair’s life.

  • Solve the tasks of all four gods

Chapter 3: This is a missable achievement and must be obtained before Wilbur crosses the lake to the temple. In order to progress through the story, Wilbur must solve three out of four tasks assigned to him by gods. This achievement unlocks when Wilbur completes ALL four tasks and receives the Laurel Wreath. Be careful as it is easy to forget to do the last task.

  • Issue all four laws

Chapter 3: This is a missable achievement that must be obtained before Ivo leaves the staff room with Alistair. On the Headmaster’s desk Ivo will be able to write any new law she wants. There will be four options. You will need to select each of the four options and obtain each of the four laws for the achievement to unlock.

  • Beat the Red Pirate at poker

Chapter 4: This is a missable achievement that must be obtained before Ivo leaves the island of Tugator. At any time Ivo can challenge the Red Pirate to a game of Pirate Poker. The rules are simple and the achievement unlocks when you beat him three out of five times. You can try as many times as you want. Most of the game relies on luck but I recommend never lying to him about your hand, because he always seems to know if you are. Only accuse him of lying if he gets a very high hand on the first role. Otherwise just play enough times and you will win.

  • Let Nate wear the "special" outfit

Chapter 4: This is a missable achievement that must be obtained before you return to the island of Tugator and meet with the Oracle. It also has a prerequisite step that must be completed BEFORE you meet King Tut-Tut. When you first enter the pyramid, continue the story until the scarab beetles leave the room. As Nate with the mummy on his back, enter the room and the examine the board on the wall. The mummy will explain the rules of the game to Nate, but will not let him play at the moment. After the party meets the real King Tut-Tut, return to the room as Nate and interact with the board again. Follow the steps provided below to complete the game, receive the Exotic Dancer Outfit, and unlock the achievement. You can try as many times as you wish.

From the starting position, move Up, Up, Right, Right, Up, Down, Down, Left, Left, Down, Left, Left, Left, Up, Up, Up, Right, Right, Right, Up, Up, Right, Right.

  • Win the Nim game without cheating

Chapter 4: This is a missable achievement because Nate can win the game by either cheating or playing by the rules. You MUST win by the rules to unlock this achievement. You and Tut-Tut will go back and forth removing balls from the pyramid. The goal of the game is to make the opponent remove the last ball. Follow these steps to ensure that you win in six turns:

    1. Remove the ball from the top row.
    2. Remove all three balls from the second row.
    3. Remove the ball on the furthest left on the bottom row.
    4. Remove the next ball on the furthest left on the bottom row.
    5. Remove the next ball on the furthest left on the bottom row.
    6. Now remove the last two balls on the bottom row.

Tut-Tut should remove the last ball and lose the game, and the achievement should unlock. If you make a mistake, you can play the game as many times as you would like. To avoid cheating, and therefore voiding the achievement, DON’T use the hammer and chisel on the wall to alter the rules.

  • Invoke the arch mage

Story related and cannot be missed.

Chapter 5: Unlocks when Wilbur talks to Alistair in the Count’s castle.

  • Obtain the Igor outfit

Chapter 5: This is a missable achievement that must be obtained before Wilbur unlocks the last seal on the chest. After the Count tells Wilbur about Igor, head down the stairs in the main hall. You will be in a dark room with a note on the wall. Examine the note to receive some vague instructions on how to navigate the pitch black tunnels. You could just wander around until you find Igor’s room, but I will list some steps to help you. The following instructions rely almost entirely on sound. I recommend going into the game’s audio settings and lowering the music volume, and perhaps turning up the volume on your television.

    1. Start by heading east (to the right). You will shortly reach a crossroads that has a sound like blowing wind. Continue heading east.
    2. The next crossroads you find will have a sound like crunching snow. Continue heading east.
    3. The next crossroads you find will have a sound like crunching beetles. Head north.
    4. Continue until you hear footstep echoes. Began heading west.
    5. Continue until you hear flowing water. Head north, and take the first crossroads east that you come to. This one can be easily missed.
    6. Continue until you hear yourself walking on wooden boards. Head north, and take the first crossroads east that you come to. This one can also be easily missed.
    7. Proceed east until you reach Igor’s room. Inspect the cupboard to obtain Igor’s suit and unlock the achievement.

If you get lost at all simply wander around until you hear one of the above sounds and then pick up from there.

  • Watch the entire end credits

Chapter 5: This is a missable achievement because you can skip the credits and miss this. If you do, simply reload your last save and you will have to replay the end scene. To unlock this achievement you simply have to watch all of the credits, which takes about 10 minutes.
