Introduction:
Skylanders Trap Team is the fourth installation of the Skylanders franchise. With a shiny new portal, this game introduces new Trap Master characters, who have access to special elemental gates in the game.
Story Playthrough:
First, you'll want to play through the story on the difficulty of your choice. There is a chapter-specific achievement in each chapter to unlock. If you miss one, you can replay the chapter from the chapter select menu to try again. Playing through the story will get you all of the story-related achievements and also unlock Nightmare difficulty.
Miscellaneous Achievements Clean-up:
During the story you naturally unlock some achievements like "Not Out of Your Element", "Wow, That's Tough!", "Road to Redemption", "Hero Master", "Skystones Scavenger" and "All the Way Up!".
As mentioned above, you can also replay chapters to get any chapter-specific or other miscellaneous achievements you may have missed.
Arena Battle & Kaos Mode:
Both of these can be accessed from the game's main menu or from the Skylander Academy hub-world by talking to Brock and interacting with the gold Kaos statue.
Battle Arena requires you to complete every level in all 6 Arenas. You also need to buy the last arena from Auric.
In Kaos Mode, you will need to complete all levels which will correspond to 100 waves and also defeat 100 Enemies.
Nightmare Playthrough:
Once everything else is done, start a new save file and choose Nightmare difficulty. You'll want to avoid any battles and fight only when necessary. Bosses battles can be challenging at times, so use as many maxed out Skylanders as you can and don't forget to use yours villains; they are very helpful.
Conclusion:
Like their predecessors, Skylanders Trap Team is a very fun and entertaining game. Most of the achievements are easy to get, some may take a few attempts, but if you persevere, you get the full 1000.
