Overview:
- Estimated achievement difficulty: 1/10 [Achievement Difficulty Rating]
- Offline: 12 [1000]
- Online: 0
- Approximate amount of time to 1000: 6+ hours [Estimated Time to 100%]
- Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 6 episodes, minimum, to play if you don't die. An extra episode will be added each time you die.
- Missable achievements: 7 - Cat Person (40G), A Light in the Darkness (40G), Collect 'em All (40G), Campaign Funder (40G), Homesick (40G), Stone After Stone (40G), and Help a Friend (130G)
- Does difficulty affect achievements: No difficulty option
- Unobtainable/glitched achievements: I believe Help a Friend (130G) can be the only buggy achievement. If it doesn't unlock as the cops catch you, unlock the handcuffs then dashboard quick, then quit and restart the scene BURNIN' from the start.
Introduction:
Road 96 follows missing teens who are on the run trying to escape the country by traveling along the side of the road, meeting other main characters. Every choice you make along the way changes each time you play, and will affect the story slightly. Play along as you reach the border and try to escape to your freedom.
Abbreviated Walkthrough:
With the way the story plays out, it is never the same for two people, as the story changes with what you choose and how you decide to travel as you make it towards the final destination of Road 96 and then attempt to escape.
This game is not difficult and you should unlock all 12 achievements by the sixth episode as long as you don't die before you reach Road 96. To stay alive, at each location you need to keep your energy as high as possible by eating/drinking and resting at some cardboard that is shaped like a tent. If your energy drops to zero, you will have to complete an extra episode for each person that dies before Road 96 and attempting to escape the border.
I would say just look through the missable achievements to take note of the locations that I have added to the top of the description in bold they are linked with. Each scene within the episodes are scripted, so you will come across the area you need, just that it will be in a different order than someone else, so watching walkthroughs won't help. They'll just give you an idea of what to do.
Mop-Up:
After playing the way you like and taking note of the missable achievements, you should have everything done by the end of the sixth episode.
Conclusion:
Road 96 is a fun, relaxing game to play, with a good soundtrack and a Telltale-like comic artwork. As I did, you may find yourself playing and looking forward to the next episode to help a teen cross the border and see how their story plays out. I would suggest you try this game to find out for yourself. It is also an easy 1000 to add to the collection.
