Introduction:
Here you follow the story of Zack, a member of Soldier who wants to become a Soldier 1st class and follow his dreams. With Crisis Core, you get the full story about Zack from what Cloud tries to tell in FF7, and how he comes to show in Midgar at the start wearing Soldier gear.

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
In this game the main story is pretty straightforward as it tells you where to go and what to do and displays on screen and on the map. The part where you are to do as you wish is either between chapters or in a certain chapter where you need to complete tasks for the missable achievements.

Crisis Core is littered with a large amount of missable achievements, and if you go past a certain point in each chapter they are related to, then it will require another playthrough to unlock them. As the game is set in chapters, I have linked the missable achievements to the chapter achievement they are unlocked with for ease. I have laid out as best I could the order in which the missable achievements should be unlocked, based on my experience. I recommend reading through each missable achievement when you get to each chapter so you can keep an eye out for them as you progress, ensuring you don't miss any. Refer to the following story-related achievement solutions to see a list of all missable achievements tied to that chapter.

Prologue: Embrace Your Dreams (10G)
Chapter 1: He Wouldn't Betray Us (10G)
Chapter 2: We're Not Monsters (10G)
Chapter 3: Angels Dream of One Thing (10G)
Chapter 4: Where Did Everyone Go? (10G)
Chapter 5: Protect Your SOLDIER Honor (10G)
Chapter 6: Did Genesis Really Die? (10G)
Chapter 7: I May Abandon Shinra (10G)
Chapter 8: I'll Come Visit (10G)
Chapter 9: We'll All Be Heroes (10G)
Chapter 10: Thanks to You, Zack (35G)

Mop-Up:
Following the guide should see you through without difficulty, but I would suggest that if you go for the hard mode achievement, link it with defeating Minerva, as the final boss on hard mode can be difficult if not prepaired, so it's best to grind out some good stats. I have linked a video in SOLDIER of Legend (95G) for an overpowered guide that I took things from.

Conclusion:
I had not played this when it was released on the PSP so it was good to see the story Cloud tells in FF7 but with more detail before the events in Nibelheim. The only part that can prove most difficult is some of the missions if you are not prepaired and aren't following an overpowered guide where you go into missions not meant for your current level.

There are 51 achievements with a total of 1000 points

  • Unlocked all achievements.

This is the final achievement you unlock after obtaining the other 50 achievements.
  • Won a battle for the first time.

Story related and can not be missed

This is unlocked at the start of the prologue, as you are entered into a battle as soon as the intro video finishes.
  • Performed a limit break for the first time.

This will come natural through the game and can be unlocked as early as the prologue.

There is a roulette-like aspect called DMW where, in battles, it will spin. If it lands on certain numbers, it will present you with a limit attack displayed on screen that you press button-y.png to initiate.
  • Performed materia fusion for the first time.

    Chapter 3.

When you have visited the director and become a Soldier 1st Class, you will be in the briefing room and a tutorial will begin for materia fusion. Afterwards, fuse two materia together.
  • Dealt 99,999 damage to an enemy.

    MISSABLE

Chapter 3 is the earliest you can get this. This is missable in the way that if you just play the story and not grind for minerva and get the break limit accessories, you will not reach the attack limit.

For this you need an accessory that breaks the attack limit, such as Brutal from M7-4-6, and a costly punch materia by fusing a steal with the DMW rush assault materia you get from completing 30% of missions (there are other ways to make this).

Now equip both and go into a battle like M1-1-1 and use costly punch to inflict 99,999 damage. This won't work if you have a limit break increase on your HP as it won't decrease from the base max HP and won't increase the damage of costly punch.
  • Obtained all DMW images.

    MISSABLE

Chapter 8 is where you should look to finding the phoenix materia to unlock the summon image.

For this achievement, the character images are unlocked as you meet them.
For the summons and chocobo mode images, you need to unlock them through completing certain missions from the missions menu (not story progressing chapter missions) except for the phoenix summon.

For the missable part, you need to obtain the phoenix materia in chapter 8 while going for Seven Wonders Expert (10G). If you miss this, you will need a second playthrough.
  • Achieved 100% progress for all DMW.

    MISSABLE

Chapter 10 is the earliest you can get this, because you need to progress the story enough to unlock all possible memories. This is missable if you miss the phoenix materia in chapter 8.

For the character images, you need to unlock six different memories for each of them when you line up two or three images of the same person. The exception is Genesis who only requires two memories to be unlocked. This can take some time as you are not always guarenteed a memory when you match two or three images and the videos in the square box that show do not count.

For the summons and chocobo mode characters, you just need the DMW to land on them with three on the same image.

The easiest way for this is, when you unlock all images, to then go and sit in M1-1-1 and just stand there and go AFK (if you have a wired controller). This will take some time but can be sped up near the end of the game when you can get the materia that is linked to the certain person's special DMW attack. Or, you can buy the materia from several shops you unlock. The final shop required is found in a chest in chapter 9, Gongaga Village, where you get six of the materia linked to the person (e.g. apocolypse mateia is for Genesis). Equip all six and enter M1-1-1.
  • Completed 25% of all missions.

  • Completed 50% of all missions.

  • Completed 75% of all missions.

  • Completed 100% of all missions.

Chapter 6 begins. (complete in chapter 10)

Chapter 6 is the cut off for this achievenent as you need to find 16 missable missions before the end of chapter 6. The rest are unlocked through story progression and chapter 10 is where you unlock the final missions. For this, you need to enter the missions menu from when you are standing at a save point and complete the missions as they appear, in order to unlock them.

    The missable quests are:

Continue the game until you are at the street level and can enter the alley.

    Encounters 4 and 5:
When you enter the alley, there is an encounter to the left and one to the right. Finish these before heading forward.

This will unlock when you complete the chapter.

  • Learned about all of Nibelheim's Seven Wonders.

    MISSABLE

Chapter 8 (ends at start of chater 9)

At the start of the chapter you can speak to a boy to the right. He will task you to find the seven wonders that he gives clues too.
    1. First wonder - found in the water tower in the centre of town.
    2. Second wonder - the portrait in the inn. Look at it and go back to the boy and head back to the picture. Now just head downstairs and back up to the picture until the man behind the desk moves then follow him, afterward go back to the boy.
    3. Third wonder - this is on mt. Nibel, head up to where the three kids are then follow the path around to the dead end (check the map) here, get into a battle with three bombs and kill them before they explode for a key item then head back to the boy.
    4. Fourth wonder - in the shinra manor, you need to look through four keyholes for the safe code. 1st-second floor to the right (count the books that on the floor, chair or top of the book case). 2nd- first floor to the right (count the monsters in the room). 3rd- second floor to the left (count the apples and tins in the room). 4th- first floor to the left (count how many chairs). Open the safe then head back to the boy.
    5. Fifth wonder - after the mako reactor you will head to the manor, in the basement you will need to fight sahagins for coffin keys, you may need upto four. The coffins are behind 2 red doors and when you find the correct one you will get a cutscene (the wrong coffins have bizzare bugs in). DO NOT ADVANCE THE STORY HERE but Head back to the boy.
    6. Sixth wonder - when the town is on fire you must save the boys mum in the allocated time (head to the back then left up the stairs then head down toward the camera and to the right to find her then go back the way you came) and speak with the boy.
    7. Seventh wonder - after speaking to the boy advanve to the next chapter and when you are leaving the boy will email you a clue to where the wonder is. It is in the outskirts behind a fence by a house opposite side of the map to the manor.
  • Opened the path to the Cage of Binding.

    MISSABLE

    Chapter 10.

For this you need to carry on to the area called "depth of judgement" (this is where the save point is next to a tomb stone). From this area you need to find four tombstones for the LOVELESS tale in order.

    Loveless Slab Locations:
    1. Prologue: Near the main save point
    2. Chapter 1: Head south from the Depths of Judgement and this one will be directly before the transition spot to the Lake of Oblivion.
    3. Chapter 2: Exit east from the Depths of Judgment to reach the Howling Fang, a room of cells. Unlock the cells using the valves so you can grab anything in the cells and proceed to the slab at the end of the room.
    4. Chapter 3: Through the west exit of the Depths that leads to the Portal of Severance, you'll find the last slab directly in front of you as you transition

After you have found the four you need to head to the lake of oblivion. Here you will find crystals coming from the ceiling with mako flowing out. Interact with them and fight the monsters. After the last you will get a cutscene and unlock the achievement afterwards.
  • Cut down every incoming shell.

    MISSABLE

    Chapter 2

After you leave the factory you will be forced into a mini game where you have to cut down 10 missiles. For the first 9, you just have to time the attack right (wait for the blue crosshair or the missile to turn red) but the 10th can be tricky as the camera changes angle and harder to judge distance and reliant more on the crosshair and the missile turning red.
There is a hit counter in the bottom right to monitor and if you fail you can quit to menu and continue, starting you off not far from the start of the mini game.
  • Blended a perfume with the perfect amount of oil.

    MISSABLE

    Chapter 4

While going for Good Match For Aerith (10G), you will stop at the shop "shopping paradise" to start the perfume mini game. (also complete this several times perfect to change the cut scene).

In this you have to get the correct amount of drops given by the shop keeper.
    • drip = 1
    • drip drip = 2
    • Splash = 10
The amount asked for by the shop keeper is random each time. Just count to the correct number and tap button-a.png to finish and just pressing it is too slow. If you have done it correctly, Aerith will say it's really good and the achievement is yours.

  • Bingo!

    10

Guessed the exact number in the number-guessing game.

    MISSABLE

    Chapter 4

After you have gotten your wallet back from Bruno, you can speak to the boy in green again for a mini game towards Good Match For Aerith (10G)

For this you need to guess the correct amount of kids that walk past. The easiest way to do this is let Aerith make a guess then pay the 50g for another clue, then choose the number both Aerith and the boy both say.
  • Rated to have "godlike speed" in collecting materia.

    MISSABLE

    Chapter 4

While going for Good Match For Aerith (10G) you will be at the shop "item world" where you will be asked to gather all the dropped materia for the shop owner. There are 20 to collect and must be done under 14 seconds.
  • Achieved victory against the SOLDIER 2nd Class in the physical fitness test.

    MISSABLE

    Chapter 5

At the start of the chapter, go to the training room and speak to the researcher at the back to start the physical training tests.

The tests are to out-perform your rival in completing a certain number of squats. You need to complete four tests against four NPCs, increasing in number of squats required each time. The final round is against a Soldier 2nd Class and you need 55+ squats, meaning you can't get out of sync more than once.

To complete a squat, I found it best to press button-y.png near the end of the squat when it looks like Zack's hands are near his heels to keep the momentum going.
  • Infiltrated the mako excavation facility without being discovered once.

    MISSABLE

    Chapter 5.

There is a save point right before you attempt this which you should use, since you have to complete this in one try.
From the start, head to the first hide spot and use lb.png to hide. When the guards have rotated twice and the three of them head in the three direstions follow the one that walks away and goes the furthest and walks to the back of the building, and hide in the blue square. When he turns and walks away, simply stand and go through the door into the facility.  There is a video for players that struggle with this.
  • Defeated all enemies in Defense of the Junon Perimeter.

    MISSABLE

    Chapter 6

After you speak to Tseng and lock down the central tunnel, you will continue on to find Hollander escaping the Junon airport. In this area you will be faced with several enemies coming towards the tunnel. You need to initaite a battle with each monster coming towards you. You will know you have them all when the kill counter reaches 30. This is not difficult as the other monsters stop moving forward when you initiate a battle with another.

After this mini game type battle, and before you continue after Hollander, head up the lift to the right to meet the female turk. This will open up the chance to join the Zack fan club for Fan Club Aficionado (10G).
  • Did not allow a single gun bull head to escape while sniping.

    MISSABLE

    Chapter 9

When you leave Nibelheim with Cloud, you will find yourself in the Nibel Plains where you must scout ahead while using sniper rifles in set locations.

There are 8 locations for the sniper mini game.

This isn't that hard, just try be quick and aim for the heads of the robots. When you finish the fourth spot, I suggest you max out the upgrades, but it's not really needed as long as you put a few on damage as you go along. (it is one point per robot in set locations plus random encounters and it takes 96 points to max out the rifle also the ugrades carry over to whatever rifle you use and the smart bomb is a one time only thing).
  • Collected ten chests coming down the waterfall in the hills of Gongaga.

    MISSABLE

    Chapter 9

When you reach Gongaga and have viewed the cutscene with Genesis and Hollander, get into six random battles then go near the waterfall to start the mini game.

The chests come down in this order: Middle, left, right. Also straight after the middle chest two monsters fall down to the left and right which need to be avoided.
  • Cleared the game in Hard Mode.

This can done by starting on Hard which will be difficult when you get to the final boss if you dont grind to get Zack stronger.

I suggest to play the game on Normal while grinding out max stats to beat Minerva for Divine Rule Broken (100G), and near the end of the game as you use the goddess materia, change the game to Hard and complete the game. After the credits this should unlock.

Here is a video I used to grind out max stats:

  • Received highest evaluation from Lazard for Assault on Fort Tamblin.

    MISSABLE

This is obtained during the first mission of chapter 1 in Wutai.

When you enter the fort you will notice crossed sword symbols appear on screen. These all need to be checked off.
Apart from the forced encounters that mark these off, there are two towers and three revolving doors. Also when you are met with a choice choose "find a different route." The loctation will be marked on the map after the first revolving door.
  • Constructed every flower wagon type.

    MISSABLE

    Chapter 7

The first wooden wagon is story related and four items are needed and found in this order.
    • Tools - outside the church
    • Wood - sector 5 market
    • Tires - the car in loveless alley
    • Maunal - outside the church
Now carry on with the game and you will be given a chance to head back and finish tasks as this is the point of no return. Now go back to Aerith in the church.

For the second wagon you need
    • Mythril tools - in chapter 5 collect the missions M2-1-1 to M2-1-6 from 6 NPCs and then when complete speak to the researcher in the exhibit room in the shinra building.
    • Walnut wood - complete Wutai's Nemesis (10G)
    • Premium tires - complete the mission set M7-1-1 to M7-1-6 given by the soldier in the friefing room (chapter 2)
    • Craftsman monthly- in chapter two speak to the shinra captain in loveless alley and completer the mission set M1-2-1 to M1-2-6
For the third and final wagon, you need to complete Shinra's Squats Champion (10G) for all four items needed.
  • Told by Bruno that you and Aerith "make a good couple."

    MISSABLE

    Chapter 4

When you enter the slums market you will have your wallet stolen by Bruno. You'll try finding a way to get it back while completing tasks that have a hidden point system attached, where you require so many points for Bruno to mention the needed dialogue. Following this should do the trick.
    • Speak to the girl in a blue dress and choose to wait 10 times.
    • Talk with the shop owners of fifth arm, item world and shopping paradise.
    • Speak to the boy in green and choose to trade five times.
    • Speak with Aerith then run around the market to find bruno then tell him you will buy the medicine.
    • Head towards the park for a battle then go back to bruno.
Save the game here as I believe the next mini games need to be completed first try.MAKE A SAVE HERE

Now choose to continue to the playground when asked, and when you head back to the Shinra building Bruno will find you and make a comment on how Zack and Aerith make a great couple. If it does not unlock here, reload and complete a few more mini games for the perfume then save again and make your way back to the Shinra building. Repeat this until it unlocks. I had to complete the perfume game 7 times personally.
  • Defeated Minerva.

This is a difficult fight if you are not prepaired, and even when you are it can be troublesome. It can be done as early as the end of chapter 3, but I would wait until the start of chapter 4 where you can complete new missions to unlock items to equip four accessories.

You need to max out your stats or be really close to it to stand a chance. Personally, I spent 46 hours grinding and that was my minimun. You can spend even longer to make this easier if you're willing to grind out tens of millions of gil and SP. Swapping out a materia for SP master, which increases attack and negates all damage as long as you have the SP for it to drain away, you will be looking around 46 million SP to beat it with zero damage

What I did was followed an overpowered grind video and made a few tweeks to suit my play style. I ended up with
    • 6M gil
    • 2M SP to get a good start on the battle
    • hell blizzaga +100 mag
    • costly punch + 100 vit
    • electrocute + 100 atk
    • gil toss +100 spr
    • aerial drain +999% hp
    • mug accessories were the ziedrich, genji glove, genji helm and adaman bangle.
For the battle, I used a phoenix down then straight to mug 99 phoenix downs. From here just use aerial drain as the main atttack and in between timing correctly would use gil toss or costly punch. Keeping the item cursor over phoenix downs and using if I died. When the boss uses the ability Judgement Arrow, quickly use another phoenix down as this attack debuffs you of everything that's not auto through equipment, including the effect of the phoenix down.

For completing this, you'll be rewarded with the Divine Slayer which breaks all limits, adds 50 to each stat, increases hp, mp and ap and finally adds libra effect.
