Introduction: 
Broken Age is a fun point and click adventure game where the player controlled character can be directed to move about the screen, examine objects, and talk to NPCs to learn more about the game world. It follow two characters who seem to belong in seperate worlds and times until the story unravels as you progress. The main characters don't meet other than for a brief moment but their stories do join.

Abbreviated Walkthrough: 
In this game the achievements unlock naturally as you play through the game, following the guide, and in the same order as they are displayed in the list below, until you get near the end of Act Two where a final act achievement shows seemingly out of order.

Start with Shay first for both acts for ease of achievements. The order of achievements is Shay/Vella for both acts. Nothing is too difficult task-wise as long as you read what needs to be done as you talk to the NPC, except for two missable achievements which require you to interact with objects as you play through each screen. The first you unlock of the two is Gary Has His Reasons (25G), and then Are You Trying to Get Rid of Me? (25G) which you start in Act 1 and finish in Act 2 with Shay.

For the random puzzles, it would be wise to write them down on some paper as this will save time and help get it correct.

Mop-Up: 
After the main playthrough, all that will be left is the speedrun to unlock the final two achievements.If you happen to miss any achievements in your first run, you will have to replay the game again if you don't have a manual save in tbe correct place. I would suggest you use save slots 4 - 8 solely for the start of the two acts for both characters.

Conclusion: 
A fun point and click game but at times leaves you lost in what you should do next and where it is, as there is no real direction in terms of progress. That said, it is an easy 1000gs.png

    100

    Unlock all Broken Age Achievements

    This will unlock when you finish the 44th achievement.

    It is a good idea to save Let's Get this Good Time Over With (55G) for the second to last achievement, as 3.3 (100G) is buggy. The best way around it is to make a manual save as close to finishing the game as possible (I made a save after I used the hexipal on the drum  and complete the game. You will then have to reload and finish the game again for this achievement to register.
  • Make a Spoon Sweat

    Shay - Act One

    During the breakfast scene with the cereal bowl full, let the spoon finish all of its dialouge and the achievement will unlock.
  • Examine all breakfast options

    Shay - Act One

    When choosing your cereal, keep selecting the option to refuse until you can not refuse anymore.
  • Disrupt Shay's daily routine

    Shay - Act One

    At the start, when in the cockpit, select the train option. When in the scene, to the right is a cone-like thing with a face. Press it to put out its tongue. Now you will see a toy in the train holding onto the tracks. At this point when it lets go and the train starts to move down, you have to press on the face again to retract the tongue.
  • Complete all rescue missions with zero errors

    Shay - Act One

    After you meet the wolf, he will give you a star chart to give to the weaver in the next room. Do this and return to start the rescue mission. After the second time, you will have to finish a few tasks to finish the third rescue mission.

    There are 10 creatures to rescue. Make a manual save before leaving the weaver room to start the rescue. Also, you can save while in the rescue screen, but I would suggest that, if you do do this and make a mistake, don't save and exit. Instead, dashboard and reload. I had to finish this achievement twice as the save and exit way did not unlock this achievement for me.
  • Inhibit a powerful entitiy

    Story related; cannot be missed.

    Shay - Act One

    For this you will need to interact with the blue suit from the trophy room and the headphones from the wolf.

    In the elevator room, take the middle down to the core and go to the next scene. Chose the diamond shaped helmet from the inventory (from blue suit) to equip on Shay, then move the cursor down to enter the core room. Here you will place the headphones on the object to unlock the achievement.
  • Hear 20 reasons why Gary won't grab that

    MISSABLE

    Shay - Act One

    When you retrieve Grabbin' Gary from the plant out the air lock, use it from the menu on any interactable object in the scene and on the inventory items as you get them. To get this early on, when you are in the cockpit, select the foreign body option. 

    The description says 20 but I had to interact with more than 20 items for this to unlock.

    Take Control of the Boom Arms

    Story related; cannot be missed.

    Shay - Act One

    For this you need the air bag, knife, Grabbin' Gary and the ice cream gun.

    When you are out of the airlock, use the air bag, knife, and gun on yourself, then you will go off into space. Control Shay to move up and around the post, then to the left for a control panel. Use the knife then Gary on the panel.

    Complete this task after you complete Gary Has His Reasons (25G), because you lose him after this is done..

    Travel to a forbidden location

    Shay - Act One

    This is after the second rescue attempt, and finishing the other tasks. Be sure you check the star map from your inventory to see the star design needed. 

    After you obtain the crochet hook you can go back to the weaver and he will refuse to take you to the location. Choose the cozy cluster option and then climb down the ladder and use the hook on the tapestry. Select the top left, then the third space on the middle row, and finally the bottom left.
  • Learn all you can about Sugar Bunting

    Vella - Act One

    At the start of Vella's story, head down to the house. While inside, grab the cloth at the bottom, then pick up a cake. After, go speak to the granny and exhaust the dialogue, then head to the grampa and do the same with him, and then offer him the cupcake for the achievement (make sure to choose to split the cake).
  • Escape the Maidens Feast

    Story related; cannot be missed.

    Vella - Act One

    For this you will be among other ladies about to be sacrificed.  Talk to the ladies, wishing them luck so the MOG can show up, then follow these steps.
     
    • Speak to the woman in blue twice, asking for her water.
    • Speak to the woman in yellow and offer her the water, then again to offer her the cloth.
    • Put the corset on the bird and then use the knife on yourself to cut free.
  • Get to know someone in a precarious position

    MISSABLE

    Vella - Act One

    After you use the ladder and pass the big blue bird with the golden egg, you will come to a tree. First thing that is needed is to go to the left and select the branch with fruit. Go down the trunk and to the left to get the fruit and eat it. Do this again but this time don't eat the fruit.

    Now, select the trunk to go down and then right to meet a man stuck on the branch. Exhaust the dialogue to unlock this achievement. Avoid the holes in the cloud as you may knock the person from the branch.
  • Reunite a mother and child

    Story related; cannot be missed.

    Vella - Act One

    After you have done Make Up for Some Hygiene Demerits (15G), go back up and drop down the top right hole to now knock the man off, then head down and get the egg. Now head back to the blue bird and give her the blue egg.
  • Leave an isolated town

    Story related; cannot be missed.

    Vella - Act One

    After you have collected the three golden eggs, which are located as follows:
     
    1. From the right after you get the large boots for the ladder (give shoemaker the knife from the right area for large boots)
    2. From behind the big blue bird and swapping eggs with her
    3. From the left after you climb the large ladder and speak to the man in the clouds
    Place all three golden eggs in the nests below the ladder at #3 and climb the ladder to fall out of the sky.
  • Feed two different people a healthy snack

    Vella - Act One

    From doing the fruit part of Make Up for Some Hygiene Demerits (15G), you can now give the second piece of fruit to the new character we met. Afterwards, go back up to the clouds through the top left door to retrieve a third piece of fruit. This is why we saved the second piece and didn't eat it. 
  • Endure a tight situation as long as you can

    Vella - Act One 

    When you have left the house after Produce Distributor (25G), head to the front of the screen and then make your way left to a tree with a trumpet and interact with it. A snake will then attack you and all you have to do is wait until you pass out and wake up back inside the house.
  • Take down Mog Chothra

    Story related; cannot be missed.

    Vella - Act One 

    After you have completed the tasks in the sea town and spoke to the mayor this will start a boss like battle. You need to use the death ray on three of the MOG's tentacles. It will then pick you up for you to use the ladder on its mouth. When you are back down use the death ray on the mouth of MOG.

  • Find 30 unique reactions to the Spoon

    MISSABLE

    Shay - Act One and Act Two

    As with Gary Has His Reasons (25G), you get the spoon after breakfast. From then on you can use the spoon on the interactable objects in each scene as well as your inventory items.

    Note that the achievement description says 30 but you could end up needing to carry on after 30.
  • Return a missing spaceship part

    Story related; cannot be missed.

    Shay - Act Two

    After Knot Too Difficult (25G), you will be with the man in the mountain, and if you have the ship part this will unlock. If not, give the snake to the Major and speak about engineering for a sand mould. Go to the tree and place the mould on the floor and show it the poster. Now go to the house and give the new mould to Clive for a ship part and head back to the man in the mountain.
  • Clear up a tangled situation in one attempt

    Shay - Act Two

    - RANDOM PUZZLE -

    During the game you will end up in the clouds (make a manual save here) as Shay and be tasked to untie a knot to help the man atop the ladder. Use THIS LINK for help with this.

    Ask the man you see when you enter the clouds for a description of the knot, then say you need more help. From here, go back to the sea town and speak to the woman for help. She will need a pencil that you can borrow from the man in the mountain where you fixed the death ray as Vella. Speak with the woman again after describing the knot for a diagram (this is where the link will help). Now go back to the man in the clouds and say "let's fix this knot" and tell him the description of the knots in order they are in the note. If you chose the correct description and gave the correct advice the achievement will unlock. If not, reload to be given a new knot to work with.
  • Return a heavy duty spaceship part

    Shay - Act Two

    After Knot Too Difficult (25G) you will be with the man in the mountain and it should unlock after the cutscene.
  • Visit someone in jail

    MISSABLE

    Shay - Act Two

    While up on the cloud part, from the center area go down to the next screen. and speak to the man in the cage three times to unlock the achievement. If it doesn't unlock just keep talking to him until it does.
  • Commission a custom garment

    Story related; cannot be missed.

    Shay - Act Two

    After you get the robes back from the guards by the tree, you go back to where the imprisoned man is and speak to the women and ask them to make you something, then give them the robes and the baby-sized space suit.
  • Get a family member's help on a big project

    Story related; cannot be missed.

    Shay - Act Two

    - RANDOM PUZZLE -

    After you get another peach and the egg shell while up in the clouds, come to the sea town and speak with your dad and start a puzzle.

    - you need the pH of the slop at pH7 -
     
    • Start by putting the spoon in the slop for the reading.
    • The peach decreases the pH by -2 and the shells increase the pH by +3.
    • Use these items to alter the reading until it makes the pH7.
    It will unlock after the cutscene.
  • Tell a great joke in one attempt

    Shay - Act Two

    - RANDOM PUZZLE -

    You need to speak to the tree for this and talk until you get the option to ask about and for the fish. Now you neet to tell it a joke funny enough to make it laugh in one try (manual save before you talk to the tree). I have two jokes that work so hopefully you can use or you can reload to use one of them (dialogue is longer in game).

    Joke one:
    " hear about the first tree bank "
    "it closed down "
    " start of new branch "

    Joke two:
    " Ol' pete the pine "
    " got into a bit of trouble "
    " seems was a bit really knotty "
  • Follow up on a successful performance

    Shay - Act Two

    Straight after Make Like a Tree and Laugh (25G) talk to the tree again and if you got either of those two jokes mentioned then you will get two follow up options relating to the joke used. Choose these for this achievement to unlock.
  • Find a genius

    Story related; cannot be missed

    Shay - Act Two

    - RANDOM PUZZLE - 

    When you are with Alex in the mountain you use the hexagonal robot with the wire and place it in the recharge station.
    There is no simple way to explain this as it is random but if you search online you will find a picture that is in Vella's story of Act Two that shows the symbols in the combination you need. The guide in 3.3 (100G) tries to explain but he says the color combination does not matter, but I found that it does. From top to bottom it goes blue/yellow/red. After you complete this, give the robot to Alex and the achievement should unlock. (I had to complete this puzzle twice for it to unlock so make a manual save before the puzzle).

    After this puzzle it is time to switch to Vella to continue.
  • Answer some tough questions quickly

    MISSABLE

    Vella - Act Two

    You speak with the mother in the room next to the kitchen but you need to convince her more that you are Shay. First you need to make your head bigger twice first by going through the port from the main port room to the trophy room, then making your way around to the port by where the ice cream room is and porting back to the main port room. Now go back to the mother and answer the questions correctly first time with no mistakes.

    You will get into the room and unlock the room. (In this room there is a photo that holds a clue to the last puzzle with Shay and rewiring that robot)

    This is obtained after getting into the room where you unlock What can I say? I know boots. (25G) and after speaking with Shay's mom.
  • Execute a PERFECT escape

    Vella - Act Two

    While on the security camera and finishing Turn That Frown Upside Down (25G)  (manual save before attempting) you need to guide the little fixer bot to the control room door in the dark and without turning back, meaning you have to be quick going from left to right. There are three rooms that count and I will do quick points that will start from left going right.

    Room one:
     
    • Left bolt then quick light sign
    • Seconds after top right bolt then the bolt under that.
    Room two:
     
    • Left side bolt then left light sign.
    • Seconds after central bolt.
    • Seconds after just right of centre bolt then light switch.
    • Then right most bolt.
    Room three (this has to be done quick)
     
    • bottom right
    • Next to door with lock sign
    • Bottom centre
    • Top centre
    • Top right
    • After the bot starts to climb down click the left most bolt.
    Now from here is fine: press the bolt in the center then enter the kitchen and use the sign bot to say something about tacos and use the arm sign to save fixer bot. Go back into the hall and press the center bolt again.

    If done correctly it will unlock during the cut scene.

    Vella - Act Two

    After No Retreat (25G) and the few cutscenes, speak with Shay's mom and exhaust the dialogue.
  • Uncover an unsavory scheme

    Vella - Act Two

    In the same room as There Is Hope (15G) interact with the giant screen to talk with the wolf. Now without his diguise on, and exhaust the dialogue to unlock.
  • Final act

    After She Must have a Reason (25G) and He Must have a Reason (25G) head to Marek's room where you got the star chart and take the wire from the console to start talking to the boss. Exhaust all this dialogue to unlock the achievement.
  • Remove 8 sad faces from the Bassinostra

    MISSABLE

    Vella - Act Two

    Still while in the room for There Is Hope (15G) you will need to use the security camera to unlock the doors. While doing this and going from camera to camera you need to interact with the robot faces that are red and are indicated by a hexagon shape on screen.
  • Reconnect with some old friends

    Vella - Act Two

    When you have the cereal from the robot during Holy Smokes (15G) go to the port room and choose the trophy room and crawl through the vent and interact with the cell door. Exhaust the dialogue and then use the cereal on them. Now take the hook and exhaust any more dialogue. From here go back into the trophy room and it should unlock.
  • Deploy a weapon of mass destruction

    Story related; cannot be missed

    Vella - Act Two

    First you need to use the helmet in the icecream room to fill it. When you have exited the control room go to the corridor with the icecream room and move the obstacle back in the way and then head back to the control room and use the camera to enter the kitch and change the sign to good morning and use the boom arms. A hover will show. Now use the boom arms again and pause them at their lowest point. Exit the camera and go to the kitchen to interact with the cereal, chase the hover and chose the port room door and choose the right port and them quickly interact with the hover. This will get you a new item but you can now use the helmet on the bin that has remained open. 
  • Chart a course away from danger

    Vella - Act Two

    Here you will need the fork combined with the string, the star chart and the hook. Now while with weaver use the fork/string on him then show him the star chart. Now quickly go down the ladder and use the hook on the tapestry and choose the top middle and second from left in the middle. Now back out for dialogue about instincts and this will unlock.

    Vella - Act Two

    After ​​​​​​Go With Your Instincts (15G) go to the control room and speak with Shay's mom and will unlock after the cutscenes.
  • Make someone strut their stuff

    Final act

    As shay after The Next Most Logical Course of Action (25G) back in the main room is another wire puzzle. Now this is random for everyone again the wires need to be set up as:

    Blue: arrow left/right and up/down
    Yellow: arrown left/right and triangle split in three
    Red: arrow left/right and arrow down.

    This is all trial and error and will unlock after you back out and see the robot dancing.
  • Stand up for someone even though you haven't met him

    Final act

    As Shay, use the Gary control. After the cutscenes swap back to Vella and talk with Shay's mom choosing the following. (shortened dialogue):
     
    • My friend Alex
    • Why don't you want grabbing
    • Shay was in Shellmount
    • What happens if it is Shay
    • Can't you go around
    • Other ship have same problem
    • Push out the way
    • Get off the ship
    Following this the achievement will unlock.
  • Start a group dance party

    Final act

    As Shay, go right then right again to the music room and pick up the radio. Now go right and up. Show the radio to the hexagon robot and give the radio to Alex. Go right then left and show the hexagon robot to the other. Now go right and right back to the music room and interact with the harp. Now get the other bots follow you in the room and finally use the hexagon robot on the harp.
  • Stand up for someone even though you haven't met her

    Final act

    As Vella, go to the main control room and use the detonator on the ship you see out the window, then go back to Shay's mom and swap to Shay. Now as Shay speak to Alex about Vella to unlock this. 

    If Alex isn't there, go right and then back to the main room and speak to Alex.
  • Complete Broken Age

    Story related; cannot be missed.
  • Complete Broken Age in under an hour, not counting loading and paused gameplay.

    Get this by completing the game as it says in the description. You are able to pause the game to stop the timer, which is handy when figuring out the random puzzles of the game. As 3.3 (100G) is buggy, it is wise to save before completing this run, as it will be unlocked along with this run.
