Castlevania Dead Cells Crossover Could Inspire Konami to Make More Castlevania Games

While Konami has seemingly been testing the waters regarding interest in its dormant Castlevania series, releasing the Castlevania Anniversary Collection in 2019, followed by Castlevania Advance Collection in 2021, it seems that Dead Cells' recent Castlevania crossover might inspire Konami to return to the IP.

“We tried to bring back the games that people loved and cherished with the Castlevania Anniversary Collection and the Castlevania Advance Collection, we also brought back Rondo Of Blood and Symphony Of The Night for our PlayStation fans and on mobile, and launched Grimoire Of Souls on Apple Arcade to celebrate the lore of the franchise,” Assistant Producer Tsutomu Taniguchi told IGN, having supervised the Return to Castlevania DLC for Dead Cells.

“But we know that our fans always want more, and we do too, so this opportunity to have this amazing crossover with Dead Cells was impossible to pass up on,” Taniguchi added. “Seriously, knowing that Dead Cells, which is among the greatest indie games of the past 10 years, was inspired by Castlevania is a huge source of pride for us.”

The last new Castlevania game was Lords of Shadow 2 in 2014, so goodness knows a Castlevania revival is long overdue.

  • Castlevania is one of my top 5 favorite video game series of all time and would love to get something new (along with another collection as well like the DS games). There are games that are inspired thx to Castlevania (Bloodstained for example).
  • Yes, there are many games that have been inspired after Castlevania, such as Blasphemous, Hollow Knight, Shovel Knight, Luna Nights and the most iconic of them all being Bloodstained which by the way has a unique charm and personality by its own.
