What Time to Set The Clock - Resident Evil 4 Remake Puzzle Guide

Matt Lorrigan

In a brief section during Chapter 9 of Resident Evil 4, when you're given control of Ashley Graham, the President's daughter, you'll be met by an interactable clock face, hiding a secret door behind it. The key to unlocking this door is setting the clock to the right time, but you'll have to get past Plaga-filled suits of armour in order to find the note with the correct time. And even if you've done that, you might very well miss the note entirely.

Either way, if you're looking for the correct time to set the clock to in order to open the door, we've got the answer for you. Be aware that the correct time does change depending on what difficulty setting you're playing on.

What time to set the Clock Puzzle to in RE4 Remake on Assisted / Standard Difficulty

If you're playing through the Resident Evil 4 Remake on either the Standard or Assisted difficulty settings, then the correct time to set the clock to is as follows:

  • 11:04

You would normally discover this yourself by finding a note that reads “11:04 Reloj” once you've left the first elevator, with “reloj” translating to “clock” in Spanish.

This time can be used to open both of the clock doors in the Ashley section, and if you know the solution ahead of time, you can skip a large part of the Library.

What time to set the Clock Puzzle to in RE4 Remake on Hardcore / Professional Difficulty

If you're playing through the Resident Evil 4 Remake on either the Hardcore or Professional difficulty settings, then the time that you need to set the clock to is actually different that on the lower difficulties, which will keep you on your toes during later runs. The correct time to set the clock doors to is the following:

  • 07:00

The note that you find in at these difficulty settings is a little harder to decipher, reading “VII XII Reloj”. Reloj here is Spanish for clock, and the roman numerals read “7” and “12” respectively. While this could be interpreted as times such as 7:12, 11:53, etc, it actually refers to the placement of the small hand at the big hand, at the seven and the twelve. Hence, 7 o'clock.

This time can be used to open both of the clock doors in the Ashley section, meaning that if you know the correct time before reaching the note, you're able to skip a big part of the Library.
