With Black Friday a few weeks away and a bunch of fresh content and links to my site, I was anxiously waiting to see what was going to happen.
Especially, after all the money I was spending!
Take a look below to see it was all worth it.
Sales
- Adsense – $50.26
- Amazon – $1,191.68
- Amazon UK – £ 37.71
- Amazon CA – CDN 56.48
- Total – $1,336.13
Dude!
I almost matched all of the sales I had for the previous 10 months!
It was a nail biter watching my sales and traffic grow as the month progressed.
The increase didn’t happen as soon as I thought it would but about a 10 days before Black Friday traffic started growing and peaked on Thanksgiving.
In the beginning of the month I posted a Black Friday deal post and within a week it was ranking on the first page and finally peaked at the third spot right behind Amazon and Wal-mart!
This post was responsible for 30% of my traffic so it was definitely seasonal traffic but I will take it!
November represented a 92% growth in traffic over October and almost 300% in sales!
Another thing I did is replaced my email opt-in form with Amazon banners to just try to get as many people to Amazon as possible.
Obviously, people are looking to buy during this time so my conversion rates went through the roof. This helped me to have a couple $200 commission days from Amazon!
Also, my fourth site that was 5 months old had about $80 in sales! This was several months ahead of my third site.
Needless to say I was floating on cloud nine at this point.
Expenses
- Domain registrations – $0
- Hosting – $0
- Professional Fees – $338.41
- Themes – $0
- Software – $0
- Total – $338.41
Besides hiring writers for content, all of my other expenses are $0 this month as the software and hosting renew annually.
This is was a solid month to help pay for the class I took and all of the content I was paying for.
As you can see I slowed down content production here because I really needed to see this increase in sales to help justify everything.
Key Takeaways
Optimize for November! There are so many people buying online during this month and you want to be ready for the additional traffic.
When I first started thinking about the Black Friday post, Google only said the keyword got 30 searches per month…?
But I saw competitors with similar posts and I had a little bit of an email list at this point, so I thought, why not?
Then that page generated over 4,000 visitors! So, if you have an idea but some of the numbers don’t add up, trust your gut.
There are holidays in almost every month of the year, if it makes sense for your site, take advantage of them.
